Anthropologists and historians are fond of defining periods of human history according to some overarching social development. The “Stone Age” or the “Iron Age”. They also tend to like to break things down according to even shorter term social events like the “sexual revolution.”

I believe the current decade should be forever known in history books as “The Whine Age.” Whining has become our nation’s primary cultural achievement. Even our national leaders whine publicly and proudly. Our President has made whining a spectator event, and his droning, excruciatingly boring public whines are celebrated by the media which whines along with him.

I’d like to say this is ideologically aligned, and that conservatives are free from this affliction, but that is not true. Conservatives whine just as loudly and just as ineffectively as liberals do.

Our nation has become a kindergarten playground where everyone whines about the size of their cookie.

It appears the great experiment in liberty initiated over 200 years ago is likely to end now with a bang, not even with a whimper, but with a whine.

Yeah, I am aware that this very post is whining about whining….
