Former Charger Junior Seau Found Dead In Oceanside Home From Apparent Suicide « CBS Los Angeles.
OCEANSIDE (CBS) — NFL and USC Trojan Junior Seau was found dead Wednesday morning in his Oceanside home from an apparent suicide.
Seau’s girlfriend discovered the body of the 43-year-old NFL standout around 10 a.m. in a bedroom, Oceanside Police Chief Frank McCoy said.
Paramedics attempted to revive Seau, but they were unsuccessful. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, according to McCoy . A handgun was recovered from the home.
Police are investigating Seau’s death as a suicide.
Two years ago Junior Seau drove his car off a cliff in California. He claimed to have fallen asleep at the wheel, but the whole incident seemed awful sketchy to me. Now this.
I’m sure this will be tied to Seau’s NFL career and blamed at least in part on concussions.
Seau was a great player in the NFL for a long time. He made millions of dollars both on and off the field.
You gotta wonder what could possibly drive a person who had a life filled with so much adulation and success to suicide.

Cosmic, I read another article on this.

This is what jumped off the monitor at me: “Seau is the 8th member of the 1994 San Diego Chargers team to die before the age of 45 … joining linebacker David Griggs, running back Rodney Culver, linebacker Doug Miller, center Curtis Whitley, defensive end Chris Mims, defensive tackle Shawn Lee and linebacker Lew Bush.”
Something odd going on there. I don’t know enough to even begin to speculate. But, THAT is odd.
He began acting pretty bizarre a while ago from most accounts.
Shot himself in the chest? To leave his brain to be dissected, perhaps? But, if he did that, did he leave a note demanding that his brain be examined? (No note of which I’ve heard as yet.)
PED’s rather than concussion related?
Weird.
I didn’t want to speculate on PED abuse, but I have to admit I was wondering about it. Seau came into the league at the height of the PED abuse era, and he was one of the best and most aggressive players in the league throughout the height of that period.
But so was Greg Maddux, and as far as I know, Greg performed at the highest levels possible without the slightest taint of PED association, so I can only hope the same is true of Seau.
Very perplexing situation. Seau’s life seemed to spiral downward from the day he retired…
That’s why I’m NEVER going to retire. That, and the fact that I’ll NEVER be able to afford to!
