So, let’s say you are a GM of a NFL team and someone offers you one of the two following QBs based on statistics alone, after starting at least 9 NFL games, sight unseen…
Which one do you take? (all stats normalized to a “per game” standard)
QB #1
Total yards from scrimmage per game: 164 (combined passing and rushing)
Touchdowns: 0.73 (combined passing and rushing)
Turnovers: 1.3 per game (combined passing and rushing)
Win % 27%
QB Rating: 50
QB #2
Total yards from scrimmage: 243
Touchdowns: 2.4
Turnovers: 0.63
Win %: 67%
QB rating: 80
Is this even a hard choice?

Heh… yeah. Which is which do you think?
Well, I don’t need to do more than consider why you would post these stats to know which is which
I think you should also include something about their ability to lead and inspire the men around them, too.
Heh, John Elway twice lined up under guard instead of under center in his rookie season. He was benched several times in his first two years with Dan Reeves putting in both the QB Elway was brought in to replace (Steve DeBerg) and the third-string QB (Gary Kubiak). For most of Elway’s early years there was a great deal of noise about how Kubiak was the better QB. (Kubiak is now coach of the Houston Texans, I believe).
