Here’s a few photos of my prototype dry fly and telescope car decal/stickers…
They are essentially plastic molded stickers, each about a quarter of an inch thick and about two inches high. They are currently glued on with superglue, but I am considering purchasing some rare earth magnets and casting them with the magnets inside so that you can just slap them on your car and move them around or remove them for car washing etc…
Anyway, here’s the whole Yaris bumper with both stickers:
And here’s a closer-up of the telescope:
… and a closer-up of the dry fly:
The whiteness of them caused them to be a bit washed out, there is actually some detail that you can see with your eyeballs…
Would be interested in hearing feedback…

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI like the telescope but the fly looks a bit strange to me.
Heh, interesting. I think the fly is much better than the telescope… What looks strange to you? I think the telescope ended up angled much too vertically… it needs to come down about 20 degrees I think…
Look cool. Is the point to try to sell them?
If so, why not try to incorporate some popular iconography in them?
For example, the tripod of the telescope would also make a good “peace symbol.” So encircled the telescope/peace symbol could have an interesting look and implied meaning.
Hmm….
Yes, the thought is that these could be sold. I am looking at what advertising in the main hobby magazines would cost. I’m figuring on something like a $7.50 each cost for these, not because they cost that much, but because that’s about as low as I can price them to make it worth my while to make and handle them.
A peace symbol telescope?
Since both of these hobbies are essentially totally overrun with liberal “intellectuals” that’s probably not a bad idea…
I think Drax has a good idea there. I like ‘em.
I don’t know how they bond that really thin magnetic material to objects. But, we’ve got some magnetic military stickers that Pam slaps on the car.
These things would make good refrigerator magnets, too.
