So, I’ve been looking at stats for the Broncos for the 2010 season so far. With one game to go, the Broncos are pretty much undeniably the worst team in the AFC. If not for Carolina, they’d be the worst team in the NFL. Their defense is the absolute worst, including Carolina. But their offense is only in the bottom third of the NFL, so there’s some hope.
This team gives up 30 points a game!
Just as I didn’t think Kyle Orton was the cause of the Broncos problems, even if Tim Tebow is “the next John Elway” he won’t fix what’s broken on this team. Until the Broncos deal with the worst defense in the NFL they won’t be able to do anything but pray for mediocrity.
There are rumors that John Elway is considering taking over football operations for the Broncos. I sort of doubt that since he has his own arena league team and is partners in other pro franchises, plus he has a ton of other things on his plate. But I suppose it’s possible. The question is whether Elway is a Tebow supporter or not. He has had very little to say about the matter in public.
Right now I’d say that things do not look good for a 2011 season for the Broncos. And as if things aren’t bad enough, their one true defensive star player, Champ Bailey, is a free agent next year. Whooo boy.
