Hmm…. no, but that doesn’t sound all that bad. Lots of roadkill is eaten every year in the USA. In many states it is encouraged by both the police and the wildlife agencies. Of course the trick is to get roadkill immediately after the roadkill, nobody eats anything that’s been on the side of the road for a week.
Driving after turkey was a reference to the well-documented soporific effect of traditionally prepared turkey…
I suppose I should point out that I’ve never personally eaten roadkill (that I know of), but I’d actually rather see a fresh-killed turkey dressed, prepared and eaten than just rotting by the side of the road. But that’s just me. Believe me you average shotgun does more damage to a typical turkey than a car bumper does… What’s the diff if a turkey is blasted by a 12 gauge or hit by a mustang bumper? It’s just as dead, and just as edible.

My image of roadkill includes multi-squashed fauna in the middle of a hot asphalt road full of newly hatched maggots.
I’ll take that as a great compliment Tom, but don’t oversell my discipline or management skills… One look at my garage would prove the inadequacy of those skills…

Do not think about what happens in a typical frig after a few days short power outage….

Tom, I was going to ask how the process of decay differed depending on whether the animal was hit by a car bumper or an automated hammer…
Cosmic,
I don’t know if great minds think alike, but yours and mine do seem rather similar. I wish I had your discipline and management skills, though.

Tom
