I’ve read through some of the JournoList revelations published on Tucker Carlson’s “Daily Caller” website. I’ve mentioned the JournoList email list service a couple of times here on CosmicConservative. If anyone is still confused by what it is, I’ll try to explain again.
Email systems allow for the management of bulk distribution of email. They have for a long time. I’ve been a member of an Origami and RPG email list for a decade or more. The purpose of the email list service is to allow for efficient distribution of emails both from a master account, and for the distribution of responses to the list from individual members.
For example, when I get an origami e-list message that I feel I have something to say about, I can simply reply to the list and my reply will be compiled and distributed to the members of the list. Most email lists have their own rules and etiquette standards and those are usually explicitly stated in the application to join the list. Failure to conform to the rules will get you dropped from the list. Not being a member of “JournoList” I have to assume that it’s a fairly standard bulk email exchange service that just happens to be used to promote “communication” between journalists who are members of the list.
Usually a list thread is created which compiles the responses from the history of the original message, just like most work and home email systems do. So that means that many messages are self-documenting for historical purposes since people rarely omit the thread history from their replies. This allows for one message to contain dozens or more prior messages.
In a nutshell the purpose of a list is to provide for a simple distribution of ideas and commentary to a wide set of geographically distributed like-minded members of the list.
Reading through the contents of the JournoList which have so far been publicly revealed, there is nothing that I’ve seen that surprises me. All it does is confirm what I had already rationally concluded from the behavior of lefty “journalists” for years. The list archives simply reveal the means of their conspiracy and collaboration, they don’t, at least to me, reveal anything I didn’t already know about their hopes, dreams, purposes and plans.
What has been released so far reveals that there has for a long time been a deliberate attempt to mislead the American public by the members of the list, which include well known “journalists” from virtually every mainstream media outlet in the country, including the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine, the L.A. Times and many, many more. It also includes members of acadamia who weigh in from time to time.
Key members of the list, including a prominent producer at National Public Radio, discuss their fantasies of watching Rush Limbaugh die of a heart attack and doing nothing to help him, but instead laughing maniacally as “his eyes bug out”. There is no outrage expressed by other members of the list when this sort of viciousness is on display. Instead it seems to grant the “speaker” a sort of liberal street cred as most of the list members probably think to themselves “I’d never say that myself, but I agree with the sentiments”. Members openly discuss their desire for conservative views to be shut down, by force if necessary. Fox News and Rush Limbaugh are favorite targets and discussion ranges from having the FCC yank their licenses to the death fantasies already described.
Throughout the contents of the list a depth of hatred for conservatives and conservative viewpoints is revealed in breathtakingly gory detail. Members of the list discuss how to distract the public from the revelations that Obama’s “spiritual adviser” is a raving racist anti-American nutcase. Recommendations include calling random conservatives racist simply as a means to deflect the nation’s attention from Reverend Wright. Prominent list contributers openly call for list members to refuse to run any stories on Reverend Wright.
There is actually some question about whether some of the contents of the list reveal actual criminal activity. Attempts to call conservatives racist simply to divert public attention from an ugly Obama association with a racist could well be prosecuted as libel if those accusations actually were published by members of the list. The level of discussion of publishing lies and hiding the truth potentially run afoul of conspiracy laws.
And the word is that there is much more still to come from the contents of the list.
Surely there is a huge amount of material on the list about how the Leftist “journalists” discussed savaging Sarah Palin. I suspect that might well be the next bombshell to come from the list.
And I can’t help but wonder if some of the names on the list end up being White House staffers. That would be big enough news that it might even get published in the NY Times.
None of the big media outlets whose reporters appear in JournoList have even run a single story about the revelations, including the Washington Post who employs JournoList’s founder (Ezra Klein) and who recently fired another “journalist” (Dave Weigel) for his comments that were revealed through JournoList leaks.
To me, as I read through the messages, what came through to me is just how deep and heartfelt the hatred of these lefties is for mainstream and conservative Americans. The hate is palpable. The discussions of what to do about conservatives is downright stalinist. It is not hard to imagine many of the members of this list cheering to see conservative voices utterly silenced.
This is how totalitarianism starts folks. It starts when major parts of the country’s elite begin to openly discuss how to shut down criticism and opposition to their ideology.
After reading through this, I am forced to conclude that we are farther down the road to serfdom than I had previously thought. If you are a conservative, these people want you silenced, put away, or dead. And that’s not any sort of hyperbole, that’s exactly what they say when they think they are free to reveal their deepest wishes.

But…
As I said, nothing in the list surprises me, but the depth of hatred on display does concern me. Every day I think this country is getting closer to violent ideological conflict.
Nah…it’ll be a race war first. The libtards don’t have enough guns….
I linked again. Maybe you will enjoy the way I link this back to the Sherrod fiasco.

Kinda does make the point that the Progressive Media would have taken whatever Breitbart did and turned it into a cry of raaaaacism!

No surprise, just further proof that the 4th estate is dead. Just call them the propoganda wing of the Democrats, their so called role in reporting the news is worthless and their information is tainted by their individual views.
Your post is spot on. And it’s no wonder that the story is not getting any airtime from big media.
