That’s it for tonight. One incumbent, Senator Arlen Specter, lost in a tough primary against Representative Joe Sestak, who surged in the last few weeks. The outcome in Pennsylvania ended the five-term Senate career of Mr. Specter, who switched parties last year to avoid what he believed was a certain defeat as a Republican.
So, this was a big discussion between me and Drax last year. I said I was glad Specter switched to Democrat because I didn’t think he could win a primary and that meant Republicans had a chance to put an actual conservative into the Senate from Pennsylvania.
As it turns out, it would probably have been better if Specter had won the primary since Toomey is polling much better against Specter than against Sestak. But still, the first part of my prediction appears to be accurate. Now we just have to get Toomey elected.
I am glad to see Arlen Specter go. The man is an unprincipled RINO and always has been. He stabbed Bush in the back more times than I care to count, and even as a Republican he was advancing what became the Obama agenda.
Good riddance to bad rubbish. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, ya bum!

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThe backstabbing bit is why I just don’t understand Bush keeping up support for the slime.
I can admire someone who is willing to go against his/her party for principles, but Spector did it for politics. That I can’t admire.
Specter was even campaigning saying he voted with the Democrats more often than the Republicans. Very unapologetic.
Bush’s support for people who did not support him was one of the things that drove me crazy about Bush. I just don’t understand it.
Time to find a real job Arlen… may many more follow him his fall
