So, you think this is a bat-imposter? I’d be so disappointed if true…

Before I stopped reading, Batman “died” (again). Someone took his place. I’m not sure, but, at the time, the smart money was on Jason Todd (the second Robin who was “killed” by the Joker in the classic run “Death in the Family.”
Just looked it up. Apparently in “Batman R.I.P.” he was “killed” by Darkseid. The first Robin (Dick Grayson) took his place and his son, Damien (yeah, I know…his son…apparently anyway, by the daughter of Ras a Goul, Talia).
I think that’s the current status.
Yeah, that ain’t “Batman” (Bruce Wayne). Or at least, I don’t think it is. Apparently Grant Morrison is currently writing the series and he’s known for some Miller-like “gritty” writing.
Well, I wouldn’t call that a “bat-imposter” more like a bat-legacy. Dick Grayson adopting the mantle of Batman is plausible.
What I liked about Batman as a kid was that he was really the only DC “dark” superhero. Marvel was sort of overrun with them, but in the DC pantheon Batman was just about the only hero who might lose his temper and punch your lights out.

I liked Batman, not for the “darkness” (and what we, as youngsters, thought to be “dark” is not even harsh enough to be termed “mild” today…), but for the “realism.” (Yeah, I know…billionaire (millionaire then, I believe) playboy who had science-defying gadgets and super-human abilities – both mental and physical)… but, he was HUMAN! Not bit by a radioactive spider, not some alien from an exploding planet, not a god (little “g”), a magician or anything but a frapping HUMAN.

Jim Lee artwork, though. Pretty sure, anyway.

And, he could kick Superman’s ASS.
Yeah, baby! That’s the ticket!
