There is a lot of damning evidence about these researchers concealing information that counters their bias. In another exchange, Mr. Jones told Mr. Mann: "If they ever hear there is a Freedom of Information Act now in the UK, I think I'll delete the file rather than send to anyone" and, "We also have a data protection act, which I will hide behind." Mr. Jones further urged Mr. Mann to join him in deleting e-mail exchanges about the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) controversial assessment report (ARA): "Can you delete any emails you may have had with Keith re [the IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report]?"

In another e-mail, Mr. Jones told Mr. Mann, professor Malcolm K. Hughes of the University of Arizona and professor Raymond S. Bradley of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst: "I'm getting hassled by a couple of people to release the CRU station temperature data. Don't any of you three tell anybody that the UK has a Freedom of Information Act!"

I prefer the term “Climaquiddick” since it more accurately describes the media’s willing participation in the cover-up underway.

I’ve looked more closely at these emails. I think I’m a fairly intelligent guy who understands how science works and who can work through the scientific jargon in these emails to reach a reasonable conclusion about the activities being discussed. And here is my conclusion:

1. These emails are legitimate. They are not a hoax, and the contents of them have not been altered in any way.
2. They reveal a long-term (at least ten years long) deliberate attempt to manipulate data in order to support a predetermined conclusion. They demonstrate that the top AGW “researchers” in the world manipulated, hid and manufactured data to both hide the evidence of global cooling, and to exaggerate the evidence of global warming. Among the SPECIFIC data discussed as being “inconvenient” are data which demonstrate that the medieval warming epoch had higher temperatures than today and that the earth has had no significant warming in the past decade+.
3. They reveal a deliberate coordinated effort to intimidate “scientific” publications which do not toe the party line sufficiently. This is shown both by successful efforts to intimidate publications to not publish skeptical papers, and by the forced resignation of editors of publications which publish too many skeptical papers. At least three specific individuals mentioned in these emails as targets for being removed from their jobs did, in fact, lose those jobs. This means the people writing these emails successfully conspired to wreck the careers of editors entirely because they did not push AGW in their publications.
4. They reveal a deliberate and coordinated effort to avoid releasing data and correspondence which gave fuel to their opponents. This is not merely obstructionism, there were legal Freedom of Information requests to release data, code samples and emails which were ignored. These emails reveal that the obstruction of these FOI requests was deliberate and coordinated. This is a crime. In the USA this is a FELONY. Not only are these “scientists” not doing legitimate science, they are actively involved in ANTI-SCIENCE by refusing to allow their data, methods and discussions to be peer reviewed.
5. They reveal a complete politicization of the Global Warming field. The senders and recipients of these emails gleefully exult on the death of a skeptical climatologist. They fantasize about doing violence to their opponents. They brag about how they have manipulated data. The brazenness of this is unbelievable. These people are not doing science, this is a cult. These people are “true believers” of the first order.
6. They reveal a coordinated and long-term effort to divert funds to peers who have predetermined the results of their “experiments” and away from scientists who do not exhibit sufficient enthusiasm for promoting the AGW party line.

By all rights this should be the biggest story in the news. This is the foundation for the biggest wealth redistribution and governmental power grab in world history. There are literally TRILLIONS of dollars involved. These are also the LEADING “scientists” in the AGW field. We aren’t just talking about some overly enthusiastic grad students. One of the primary individuals involved is the creator of Al Gore’s famous “Hockey Stick” graph, a graph that has been demonstrated many times to have been created from manipulated and cherry-picked data. These are the scientists who speak at international climate seminars and who are listed as the key “scientists” who advise Al Gore, the UN and Barack Obama.

I have never seen a scientific scandal of this magnitude in my lifetime. This is comparable to learning that the leading AIDS researchers have been manipulating evidence on HIV and that data tracking the development and spread of HIV was deliberately manipulated in order to drive funds to a hand-picked set of scientists.

The New York Times has refused to report on this (which should tell you all you need to know right there) saying that they don’t publish based on stolen information. Funny, that didn’t stop them when they wanted to embarrass the US military, the CIA or, especially, George W. Bush.

The more I look at this, the madder I get.
