I understand the argument that business deals will enhance economic development in China and that will help drive that country in a market-driven democratic direction. I get that, and I actually think it’s probably even true.
But do our business leaders like Bill Gates have to be so disgusting as they fawn all over the President of a country which forces women to have abortions or sterilizes them without their consent? Forget about Tibet, the Falun Gong and all the religious persecution… well, no don’t forget about that.
I get the economic argument, I really do. But can we approach that more responsibly while also registering our protests over the brutality that is commonplace in China?
