… and Obama is heading to Denmark to try to twist arms to get the 2016 Olympics in Chicago.
Well, we all have our priorities, don’t we?
Iran launched mid-range missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads this weekend. No big deal. Obama issued a “stern warning” to Iran. Oooohhhhh. They’re really scared.
Our generals on the ground in Afghanistan are begging Obama to follow through on his campaign promise to make Afghanistan the focus of the War on Terror Overseas Contingency Operation. Obama though is taking the measure of his Lefty base, the same base that excoriated Bush by claiming that Afghanistan was the “real war” the “moral war” and the “proper war” who are now calling Afghanistan the “unnecessary war” and demanding that we cut and run as soon as we can tuck our tail between our legs. As he waffles, measuring the political expediency of pandering to his base vs. the political expediency of throwing moderates and centrists a national security bone, soldiers in Afghanistan continue to die, something that seems to somehow escape the notice of the same lefties who meticulously counted every military casualty during the Bush administration…
But all that is hard. Going to Denmark is fun. Contemplating war, nuclear aggression and a democracy fighting for its very survival is painful. Delivering the Olympics to a city full of benefactors owed payback is sweet.
I haven’t written anything about the shameful speech Obama gave at the UN. Mostly because I find it so disgusting to even contemplate that I really don’t even want to talk about it. The main point to make about Obama’s speech is the shocking level of megalomania and narcissism dripping from virtually every word. Obama truly sees himself as the redeemer and savior of his nation. All before Obama was evil, greedy and hateful. Obama is the first decent, caring and intelligent President in our history. The last nine months have been the dawning of a new age and Obama is the new messiah.
The more I watch him, the more I think he really believes his own hype. And that is the most dangerous thing in a “leader”.
I used to tell right-wing friends of mine that they were way off base when they expressed their fear for our nation while Bill Clinton was President. I am finding it much, much harder to defend the nation’s future under this President. For the first time in my life I am seriously worried about the future of this nation.

It is probably true that the decision has already been made and Chicago has already been selected. It is a fairly high political risk for Obama to be seen as throwing his weight behind selecting Chicago, and Chicago not actually getting the nod.
If it turns out Chicago is not chosen, I will be seriously surprised.
Having said that, I think it’s a horrible mistake to choose Chicago. I would expect a massive flood of fraud and corruption to occur, and the cost of of building the venues to soar due to the corruption. Why anyone would choose Chicago is a mystery to me.
But fraud, corruption, and such are a feature, not a bug, especially if the Olympic Committee is involved.
“Going to Denmark is fun.” If you say so…
Cosmic, I share your fear for our nation. Who knows, maybe his Presidency will shock us back into reality. I know that Carter’s did, for a while.
And you know, I am starting to read more and more right of center folks calling to get out of Afghanistan, too. It’s not just the left. But Obama owns this war. He campaigned on it’s execution. Gates has already said that Obama’s strategy is much better than Bush’s. And who knows? I don’t know his strategy…but Bush’s was fuzzy at times, too.
A Chicago Olympics would be the biggest fiasco imaginable. You think Salt Lake had graft problems before Mitt stepped to the plate!!! And I can just see Reverend Wright lighting the Olympic flame…or maybe Oprah.
Obama has a strategy for Afganistan ?
Maybe is it sanctions from the UN, I hear those always work…..yea, lets count on the UN more.
