Blogging is going to be light this week… I am doing three full-time jobs this week at work. My regular job, I picked up a project when we lost a project manager and I am covering for a coworker who is out this week (and covering, in this case, doesn’t mean just answering the phone or responding to email, it means running critical meetings, and publishing lengthy, detailed status on a daily basis for the lead team…..)
If I get through this week in one piece, I’ll be happy….

Heh… Got to work this morning at 6:45 (meaning I left home at 5:45) and spent 45 minutes preparing for the big weekly status meeting. Then half hour meeting on “my” project, where I gathered status and created action items and prepared a summary for the busines VP owner.
8:00am is the big weekly meeting, which I usually only have the first 30 minutes, but today I had to run the full 2 hours. From that meeting I gathered three major assignments due by end of day. Those were: Define agenda and attendance list for a planning meeting for 2010, Create a bi-weekly action item report to go to upper management for them to use to beat their teams to meet, define agenda and attendees for senior VP meeting to address four specific issues in his area that are holding up the program…
So the next hour was spent addressing those items.
Then it was back to “my” project for the second twice-daily status call. From there I got three more action items, including the verification that proper follow-up was occurring on several trouble-shooting activities. That took me to “lunch” which I spent preparing for the program leaders meeting, which is supposed to be run by the program sponsor, but which is actually run by the program director (me today). In that meeting I had to deliver the results of the action items I got from the morning meeting, and that mostly went well, with some tweaks that I worked out on the call.
Then it was off to a specific project issue-tracking meeting (my real job) which is the call I am still on now.
When I get off this call I have to complete my daily issue tracking status (my real job) and then compile that into the daily status for the program as a whole, which I need to get out by 4:00 in order to get to my eye doctor appointment on time.
Fun times….

I’ve been working real hard today watching Oprah, and Classic ESPN. I’m worn slap out!
Heh, if you were really watching Oprah, you’d have seen the McKenzie Phillips interview where she told the world she had a consensual sexual relationship with John Phillips, her father, a singer for the Mamas and the Papas…
Not to be too snarky, but that’s the same John Phillips who moralized endlessly about the evil military-industrial complex and who lectured the world about proper moral behavior.
You can’t make this stuff up.
Obviously, I was really not watching Oprah. But that is a sad story. I started to make my own snarky comment about McKenzie, but I will not.
Damned shame.
