Obama’s public approval rating continues to drop at a steady rate.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 30% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -11 (see trends).

Eighty-one percent (81%) of Democrats approve while 83% of Republicans disapprove. As for those not affiliated with either major party, 66% disapprove.

He reaches the last day of August at a 46% overall approval rate. For the first time since I started tracking this poll, a majority of respondants (53%) disapprove of his overall performance. His partisan polarity has exceeded even that of Bush or Clinton.

I predicted that Obama would be a lame duck by today. I think that if Teddy Kennedy had not passed away, giving an artificial (and hopefully temporary) boost in Obama’s flagging hopes to get a health care plan done, you would be seeing major stories in the major pundit rags saying that Obama was irrelevant.

I think he is irrelevant already, but because of the Kennedy thing it’s going to take another week or two before reality sets in.
