I predicted that once the election was over that the press would take a look back at their coverage and start to run stories about how biased their own coverage was in the 2008 Presidential election. This is about the 20th story on the subject I’ve seen so far. I expect we’ll see some academic studies start to get published in a few months. Of course my own opinion is that if you didn’t see the overwhelming bias in favor of Obama during the election you are either a hyper-partisan yourself, or else you are functionally illiterate when it comes to evaluating such things.
Halperin at Politico/USC conf.: ‘extreme pro-Obama’ press bias – Alexander Burns – Politico.com
Media bias was more intense in the 2008 election than in any other national campaign in recent history, Time magazine’s Mark Halperin said Friday at the Politico/USC conference on the 2008 election.“It’s the most disgusting failure of people in our business since the Iraq war,” Halperin said at a panel of media analysts. “It was extreme bias, extreme pro-Obama coverage.”
I loved the comments at the end of the story from the press apologists, particularly the one that said (paraphrased) “It wasn’t bias, Obama was just that good.” As I said, inability to recognize irony is the purest demonstration of dogmatism.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackMark Halparin’s own publication was one of the worst offenders. Time magazine was totally in the tank for Obama. It was embarrassing.

No no! Obama was just that good! The coverage was fair, because Obama really IS the MESSIAH!
Its so disturbing that the media would act this way, ignoring the integrity of their profession. Its even more troubling that so many people fell for it.
Obama is going to have to walk on water to live up to the hype. With the economy tanking faster than the Titanic, in some part due to fears of what his administration will bring, that is going to be a bit tough. At least the media will have his back and blame it on Bush.
Obama has and will continue to get the free pass and collect $ 200.00 card from the press.
Maybe when his admin sends out his censor police will people start to wake up (just like the newspaper reporters thrown off his plane before the election that nobody seemed to card about).
I predict, it will start with talk radio, the only venue the dems cannot get control over. Maybe one of those Harvard educated advisers will figure out that quite a few people stopped getting news from the biased TV options and went for a change.
I must be getting old, but I just need the NEWS, not their opinions.
