I predicted that once the election was over that the press would take a look back at their coverage and start to run stories about how biased their own coverage was in the 2008 Presidential election. This is about the 20th story on the subject I’ve seen so far. I expect we’ll see some academic studies start to get published in a few months. Of course my own opinion is that if you didn’t see the overwhelming bias in favor of Obama during the election you are either a hyper-partisan yourself, or else you are functionally illiterate when it comes to evaluating such things.

Halperin at Politico/USC conf.: ‘extreme pro-Obama’ press bias – Alexander Burns – Politico.com
Media bias was more intense in the 2008 election than in any other national campaign in recent history, Time magazine’s Mark Halperin said Friday at the Politico/USC conference on the 2008 election.

“It’s the most disgusting failure of people in our business since the Iraq war,” Halperin said at a panel of media analysts. “It was extreme bias, extreme pro-Obama coverage.”

I loved the comments at the end of the story from the press apologists, particularly the one that said (paraphrased) “It wasn’t bias, Obama was just that good.” As I said, inability to recognize irony is the purest demonstration of dogmatism.
