Sure looks that way to me…
Obama: Bin Laden still free because of GOP tactics
WASHINGTON (AP) – Democrat Barack Obama says he’ll take no lectures from Republicans on who will keep America safer. GOP rival John McCain’s campaign criticized Obama Tuesday for speaking approvingly of the successful prosecution of terrorists.A McCain aide said, “Obama is a perfect manifestation of a September 10th mind-set” and does not understand the dangers posed by U.S. adversaries.
Obama told reporters that the Republicans have no “standing to suggest that they’ve learned a lot of lessons from 9-11.”
He said they “helped to engineer the distraction of the war in Iraq at a time when we could have pinned down the people who actually committed 9-11.” He said Osama bin Laden is still at large in part because of their failed strategies.
This is the same man whose “Senior Foreign Policy Adviser” quotes Winnie the Pooh as a model for the U.S. to follow, and who compares terrorists to soccer hoodlums and/or Luke Skywalker, in the same speech.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackWell, BarackO’ might have a point. If Bush had ordered US troops into Pakistan when Bin Laden limped across the border, Obama…sorry Osama might be with Allah right now (enjoying all those virgins…Jeepers, what a twisted religion).
But President Bush was reluctant for all the reasons that we all know. It may have been a “failed policy.” I love and respect President Bush on a human level. But sometimes I wonder “what if Hillary was President when this Islamic terrorism pimple popped?”
The nukes may have been flying…no calls for jihad against The West, or Israel on Al Jazeera…Guantanamo not necessary, etc.
We are painted into an historical corner. Somebody is going to have to track up the floor, and tell the world “deal with it.”
When Obama becomes President he is going to learn some very painful lessons about power, intended consequences, and more importantly, unintended consequences. There’s a reason that good Presidents are so rare. The job is almost impossible to do at all, much less do well. Every decision is magnified and scrutinized, and even the good ones have bad consequences. I don’t envy McCain or Obama, whoever becomes President is going to quickly discover that the job is a whole lot easier to critique, than to actually perform.
Cosmic: Yep! The job is bigger than any one can possibly know. President Bush has shouldered it well, considering the weight of our times. I classify Bush’s years as President alongside FDR’s, Lincoln’s (not a Lincoln fan by the way), and LBJ’s…all particularly difficult.
Some guys get to skate through as President. But probably not many. The US has always been in an upheaval of one sort or another. I believe that the weight of the office sobers up most…not all, but most (I won’t name names).
It is rarefied air for sure. It can either make you feel god-like, or kill you. I believe that McCain understands that. I believe that BarackO’ would pee his pants the first time he gets his morning intelligence briefing…
