My Way News – Woman Claims Threats Over DeGeneres’ Dog LOS ANGELES (AP) – Ellen DeGeneres’ doggie dilemma took a nasty turn Wednesday, with the operator of the animal rescue organization that took the pooch away saying she has been deluged with threatening e-mails and phone calls. The calls got so bad that Marina Batkis said she had to close her business and stay home Wednesday, a day after DeGeneres broadcast a tearful, televised plea for the dog to be returned to her hairdresser and the woman’s daughters.

Now, I don’t really dislike Ellen DeGeneres. I don’t much care for her either. But this story seems to reveal that Ellen DeGeneres lacks anything remotely like common sense. It was bad enough that she thought she could simply ignore her dog adoption contract. I won’t assume she thought that because she was famous she could do anything. I’ll just assume that she generally doesn’t think that rules apply to her, whether she’s famous or not.

But then to tearfully plead on national TV for the poor little doggies to be returned to the poor little girls, that’s going to get her in a lot of trouble. I am not one for filing frivolous lawsuits, but quite frankly I don’t think it’s a frivolous lawsuit to sue her for defamation of character, libel, breach of contract, and something along the lines of conspiracy to cause harm. The idea that she thought she could make such an emotional appeal and not have the dog pound (oh, I’m sorry, “animal rescue organization”) get swamped with threatening phone calls, letters and emails is simply absurd. If she did think she could do something like this and nobody would act, she should be declared non compos mentos (or does that mean don’t put your mentos in the compost heap?… my Latin is weak) and be removed from the airwaves where her idiocy can cause such harm. If she was aware that unstable human beings were probably listening, and might take some action, but didn’t care, then she’s simply criminally negligent.

If I were the “animal rescue center” people, I’d be rounding up a pack of rabid lawyers and sicking them on her butt right now.
