The mid 70s was the heyday of the “Trucker Mythology” which gave us, among other things, Sally Field changing from a white wedding dress into tight bluejeans in Burt Reynold’s Trans Am. One of the major talents of the “Trucker” chic was CW McCall, who sang the Trucker anthem “Convoy.” I always liked this song so much better.

Yes, for a while towards the end of the decade, I did, in fact, own an 8-track and a CB radio…

Just for what it’s worth, Wolf Creek Pass is pretty much exactly as he describes it in this song. I especially like the description of the switchbacks as being “like a can of worms.”
