Cameron’s bag raises a few eyebrows
Actress Cameron Diaz appears to have committed a major fashion crime in Peru. The voice of Princess Fiona in the animated Shrek films may have inadvertently offended Peruvians.
They suffered decades of violence from a Maoist guerrilla insurgency by touring there on Friday with a bag emblazoned with one of Mao Zedong’s favourite political slogans.
While she explored the Inca city of Machu Picchu high in Peru’s Andes, Diaz wore over her shoulder an olive green messenger bag emblazoned with a red star and the words ‘Serve the People’ printed in Chinese on the flap, perhaps Chinese Communist leader Mao’s most famous political slogan.
Maoist revolutionaries funded by China in the 80s plunged Peru into chaos as they attempted to overthrow the government and install a socialist regime. Tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands of Peruvians were killed, many murdered in atrocities committed by the Maoist forces. There are some people in Peru who remember this and don’t share Cameron’s “chic” view of Mao.
I’m guessing she has a few Che fashion accessories too. Perhaps she’ll wear those in Bolivia.
‘Til the day I die I will never understand the “chic fashion sense” on the Left that idolizes brutal mass-murdering dictators. But I will continue to despise it.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThe left love and embrace everything Communist/Socialist. She probably has another bag with the hammer and sickle on it. Hollywood and the left are so far out of touch with what is good and right for this world that it is truly sad.
