Of course this isn’t new.

Al Gore’s Personal Energy Use Is His Own “Inconvenient Truthâ€
Gore’s home uses more than 20 times the national averageLast night, Al Gore’s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.
Gore’s mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).
And this doesn’t even begin to count his personal jet flights, his fleet of SUVs driving him around and his luxury vacations all over the world.
You know, I’d find this whole “Inconvenient Truth” thing a bit more compelling if Al Gore was willing to inconvenience himself in some small but meaningful way. Like, say, burning only twice as much electricity as a typical family…

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackHypocrisy from this mob is not surprising. But I find it hard to get worked up about it – I’ve never ranked hypocrisy as a major vice.
Of course it IS fun tweaking guys like this for preaching conservation as they jet around the country and drive gas guzzling SUVs etc.
Well, I see a difference between lame hypocrisy of the “he said this while doing that” variety and the politically powerful hypocrisy of Gore and his ilk who do more than talk. They propose legislation and pressure the government to force economically damaging changes on this country, knowing they will not be affected by the changes, insulated by their fortunes and their careers, while people like me will end up being forced into economically reduced lifestyles in order for Al Gore’s goals to be met.
That’s when hypocrisy bugs me.
Granted – but that is less hypocrisy and more like elitism.
You read about this kind of stuff and you have some sympathy for the crowd that beheaded Charles I.
