We watched the DVD of this movie at a relative’s house.
I can’t imagine what led M. Knight Shyamalan to make this movie. He certainly should never have allowed it to see the light of day once it had been edited and screened. Surely someone was telling him “Bury this thing!”
I’ve rarely watched a movie where I was so utterly engrossed in the absolute self-importance of the film maker who was trying to make something serious out of something so completely silly. It was sort of like watching an unintentional self-parody. I was entranced by its incredible badness.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI tend to agree with you. Mr. Shyamalan’s formula blew up in his face on this one. I will say this, however: I like Shyamalan’s idea that ordinary people can accomplish great things…indeed may be destined to. It’s a strong theme in most of his movies that I almost always find inspiring…
I’ve generally enjoyed his movies. I thought Sixth Sense was a masterpiece. I just can’t figure out what he thought he was doing with this one.
