Another night and another escalation. Now shotguns are being used to shoot at police. Other countries are being described as “unnerved.” I am sure “frightened” is closer to the truth.
Twelve days into this and Chirac makes his first public comments on the situation? Sheesh, how does this compare to Hurricane Katrina? Within hours of reports (now mostly discredited) of rampant looting in New Orleans, the Washington Press Corps was demanding not only COMMENTS from Bush, but immediate action. Does the French Press not have access to Chirac?
And don’t forget to note that the ABC story merely refers to French “youths” not Muslim or immigrant or whatever. At what point do the non-Muslim and non-immigrant “youths” of France start to demand an apology for having their entire generation blamed for the actions of a prominent and quite obvious minority? If this was happening in the USA and the press and government pretended it was just generic “youths” I would demand an apology for slandering an entire generation.
