Seems pretty solid…
New York Jets popular backup quarterback Tim Tebow may have already found a new landing spot. According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Tebow signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason is a "virtual certainty."
The report indicates the Jets will honor Tebow’s request to be released. After he’s released, Tebow will sign with the Jaguars.

Dunno if Tebow will get the chance to start in Jacksonville either. I guess we’ll see. I’ve had to concede that whatever Tebow has accomplished in actual games, his reputation as a very poor performer in practice seems to be accurate. Until he can perform in practice, he may never get a shot at starting again.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI have to wonder about that “performs poorly in practice” rumor. Even his most staunch supporter, Skip Bayless, advances that rumor.
If so, then, what could be the reason? Several possibilities pop to mind.
1) He didn’t study or play a “pro system” in college. He did in Denver his first year and, somehow was good enough to be the backup. And, when called to play in his first year in a pro style offense, did pretty well. Denver, his second year, different co-ordinator when backup to Orton under pro style offense. Then, whatever the hell that offense they ran under Tebow wasn’t recognizable as anything ever played in college or the NFL. Then the Jets. Sheesh. I don’t think any QB could have practiced well under that atrocity of an offensive scheme – whatever it was.
2) He ain’t very smart. I could buy this. He doesn’t come off as the sharpest tack in the box. But, there are quite a lot of QB’s who had great success in the pros who needed help tying their shoes. It ain’t rocket science – it’s frapping football. Keep him in the same system for a while and he’ll get it.
3) He simply can’t throw accurately enough. I can’t buy this. I’ve seen him make too many to say that.
(Even as I write this, the talking heads are saying “What NFL coach would change their whole offense to fit Tebow’s skill-set?” The same crap they said last year. But, they don’t say that about Newton, RG III. And, in fact, one of them is saying he could be the back-up to Newton because they run the same style of offense Tebow is familiar with. And they don’t see the hypocrisy.)
Sigh.
