So, what I’ve been saying for the past four years is finally getting recognized and people are willing to say it in public.
The PJ Tatler » Why Team Obama Ran with the Dishonest ‘Mitt Killed My Wife!’ Ad.
As I wrote yesterday, we’re dealing with something in the Obama campaign that we haven’t seen much at the top of American life, except in the worst moments of the Clinton era. We’re dealing with a president who is entirely without any sense of ethics, honor or morals. He has lived a lie for most if not all of his life, hiding his true political convictions in gauzy language that makes him appear reasonable and moderate. Having lived a lie, what’s one more lie, in the service of keeping himself in power? What’s one more lie if, in Obama’s mind, it accomplishes the “good” of keeping Romney out of power?
Too little, too late. Obama will lie as much as he needs to in order to win this election. Mitt Romney is likely too decent a person to realize what he is up against.
Get ready for the four years that will utterly destroy this nation.
It’s coming.

Maybe if we can keep the House of Representatives and make headway in the Senate we can keep the damage to a minimum. Even executive orders can be countermanded by Congress, can’t they?
Utterly destroy?
Well…
I certainly see a continuation of the steady decline of the US. But call me an optimist. :p
Obama will take this country to the point of no return. It may not appear to be “utterly destroyed” when he (hopefully) leaves office, but the damage will have been done and all that will be left will be the shouting, wailing and gnashing of teeth.
mtnlurker – For Congress to “push back” on an Executive order is effectively precipitating a Constitutional Crisis. The power of executive orders is that the President is the actual head of the vast majority of the government. An executive order that is “illegal” will only be countermanded if Congress can either convince the President to retract the order, or if they take it to court.
So if Obama is elected and Republicans take both houses, if they have the intestinal fortitude to challenge Obama’s executive orders, look for a flurry of legal challenges that will end up in the lap of John Roberts.
Yeah, that John Roberts.
Wow…I think Obama is awful for America, but I don’t believe for a moment a nation that has survived as much as America has can’t survive 4 more years of Obama. Utterly destroyed? I think that is an extreme position. Although I do think 4 more years of Obama will put this nation is a very tough spot that might take decades to recover from completely.
Just trying to be optimistic. In spite of its problems and current dearth of leadership, America is a pretty amazing, resilient place.
And BTW, I still think Romney has a decent shot at winning the election. I just don’t trust the polls right now…
It is possible that I am being overly pessimistic. It is remotely conceivable that the country could recover from the crushing effects of Obama’s attempt to “remake” this country into a socialist sandbox.
I just don’t think it’s likely. When I say “utterly destroyed” that is probably hyperbole. I don’t expect there to be nothing left but a smoking crater. But I do expect every aspect that made America unique and exceptional as a nation, and the leader of the free world during its darkest days, to be utterly destroyed. Obama’s legacy will be the decline of America and the ascendancy of China and India as the two most powerful nations on earth for the next century. America is becoming Britain.
Maybe. But everything you fear is reversible IF we have the will as a nation to reverse it. I do worry about the apparent decline of the collective common sense and wisdom of the American people. Of course, Obama didn’t create that situation, he’s just exploiting it.
I’m worried too, but I do have hope.
Dadman, I’m not sure how reversible the things I fear are. It is, in fact, the erosion of will itself that I consider to be the primary target and casualty of Obama’s reign.
I get that. I just don’t believe Obama is capable of achieving it…even with 4 more years.
Two more political hacks on SCOTUS. Four years of executive action which Congress can’t do anything about and SCOTUS won’t find unconstitutional. Entrenched Obamacare so that every time someone enters the voting booth, they will ask themselves which choice will be (at best) least likely to adversely affect his and his family’s health care. Four more years of policies which attack his corporate enemies and rewards his corporate political friends. Four more years of state sponsored and media supported propoganda. Continued attacks on freedom of speech (from the right) and the 2nd Amendment. Continued attacks on the free exercise of religion. Etc.
Yeah. If Obama is re-elected, then he will effectively destroy/transform America so much that bringing it back to anything which even remotely resembles the watered down, weak kneed version of a free enterprise, slightly “conservative” nation which exists today will take generations – if it can be done at all.
If Mitt is willing to confront Obama in the debates and call him a liar repeatedly (as he did Gingrich) and prove that he is a liar – he will re-invigorate the conservative base and he might pull this out – in a landslide. But, if he “respects the office” and doesn’t fight just as hard as Obama is fighting, then he will lose.
So far, Mitt seems to be willing to take the gloves off. The face to face confrontations are going to be conclusive, I think.
There is a growing belief both on the right and the left, that Obama might choose to refuse to debate Romney.
