Hmm…
So three years ago the “Telegraph” ran a story supposedly sourced from the British Government about Obama returning a bust of Winston Churchill.
Now ABC is running a story saying that the original story was a bust.
The timing of the story is interesting, coming as it does at a time when Obama’s campaign is still seeming a little shell-shocked by the public reaction to the Obama “You didn’t build that” speech. Especially since the bust story has been repeated on almost every right-wing blog connected to the internet (including this one, I’m sure.)
So… did Obama insult the British in this fashion or not? And if not, why did the story not get rebutted years ago?
Hmm… interesting, I did a search on my blog’s search engine and did not find a reference to the bust controversy. I suppose I may be the only right wing blog that didn’t make hay out of that.

Apparently the initial story was more or less correct. There are two busts of Churchill, one that was presented to LBJ and resides in the White House, but not on the Oval Office, and one that Tony Blair presented to GW Bush in 2001 and that Obama returned in 2009.
Krauthammer, whose editorial triggered the White House denial of the story, is demanding an apology from the White House.
Fat chance.
