So, not that you can tell it from the mainstream media’s reporting, but Obama has essentially committed a huge fraction of the US Naval fleet, including multiple nuclear submarines, to the Persian Gulf.
Why is that? Is Obama afraid that Iran is going to launch an attack on the US?
I don’t think so. I think Obama expects an imminent pre-emptive attack on Iran from Israel and the US Naval fleet is there to make sure that Iran isn’t foolish enough to try to close the Gulf to shipping, or to take the opportunity to attack undefended US bases in Kuwait, Iraq or elsewhere.
In fact I think it’s probably a wise precaution, which means I don’t think Obama is behind it. Obama is doing it because he’s been told that if war breaks out and Iran nukes a US base or something, he’ll lose the election.
But the key thing here is not about Iran vs USA at all, although that’s all you will see the “experts” opining on. The key thing here is that it costs literally MILLIONS of dollars to support those ships on a “battle conditions” status, and the Navy would only be spending that kind of money if they expected IMMINENT conflict between Israel and Iran.
I expect we’ll see Israel attack Iran, or vice versa, sometime in the next two to three months.
And with the weapons both sides have now, it will be nasty.
The main question is if Iran will manage to convince Egypt, Syria and other nations to join in a joint attack on Israel. That is, I believe, the main activity going on in the middle east right now. Iran is telling those nations “this is your last best chance to get rid of Israel. Are you with us?”
Remember when Obama was going to bring peace to the middle east?
Yeah, me neither.
