Hat tip to Dean’s World. Sigh, another science reporter gripe is coming…. Here is the story about a black hole created in New York. Now the charming tidbits: Scientists used a particle accelerator at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York, to shoot two beams of gold nuclei at each other at the speed of [...]

Here is a photo of comet Schwassmann-Wachmann3, which is the closest comet to approach earth in a long time. It will come to roughly within 3 times the distance of the moon, which is very close in astronomical terms. What’s cool about this comet is that it broke up on its last orbit, and now [...]

Not quite like the last snow day, this is a Tony Snow day. I’m very pleased with the selection of Tony Snow as White House Press Secretary. I think he is an inspired choice. I’m glad he took the position. I’m looking forward to his humor and his genuineness in press conferences.

Mary McCarthy has been identified as the CIA agent who leaked information to the press about Al-qada prisoners being held in Europe by friendly governments. This is good news for two reasons. 1. It shows that someone in the CIA is investigating the pattern of anti-Bush leaks from the CIA. 2. It gives us a [...]

The routine is always the same, for a year we’ve pretty [...]

I understand the argument that business deals will enhance economic development in China and that will help drive that country in a market-driven democratic direction. I get that, and I actually think it’s probably even true. But do our business leaders like Bill Gates have to be so disgusting as they fawn all over the [...]

Read the article. See how long it takes before his political party is revealed. Surprisingly, he’s a Republican. I was surprised that was downplayed by CNN. Maybe they downplayed his party because of this story… Sure doesn’t help the Republicans combat this “culture of corruption” thing though. Ugh… I hate crooked politicians….

Should we go to war with Iran if they truly are developing nuclear weapons? This leads to what is perhaps the strongest argument I’ve yet heard that we should not have gone to war with Iraq. The argument boils down to “the people of the US only have so much stomach for war and Iraq [...]

What is it about chilly, rainy, windy, blustery days that makes me want to sit in a chair with a book wrapped up in a warm afghan? Today has been such a day. Not a bicycle day, nor a hoop-shooting day. Nope, today is probably a “sit in front of the computer” day. Which is [...]
