Hmm… according to my site meter, this post generated roughly 20 times my normal daily traffic when it was posted.
I can’t find any incoming links which would explain it, which implies that the traffic was all organic, from search engines.
Weird.

You may have noticed a slower posting rate from me lately. That is llikely to continue. My job has heated up lately (last week I worked 12 hours two days and had an overall work week well over fifty hours) plus I’ve got some things going on at home as well. If anyone is interested in [...]
Over at Andy’s Place he has a link to a writing analysis web page that supposedly tells you whom you write like. I did it three times with posts from this blog, here are the results:
From my “true life story” about the alligator staredown:
I write likeRobert Louis StevensonI Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal [...]
In part due to my posting of a few music videos today, I went back in the CosmicConservative archives, kicked around in the dusty old bins, shooed away a few malingering rodents and had the old caretaker we call “Festus” bring me up a bunch of old posts with video links.
Most of them were broken [...]
Dadman snarked innocently queried yesterday that I must have been having a slow week based on my postings on CC, and I’m feeling sort of guilty that I did spend too much time posting instead of working.
I will endeavor to apply my energies more responsibly towards my paid duties in the future. I had been [...]
Dave Weigel resigns from the WaPo.
I’m not sure if most of this blog’s readers even know who Dave Weigel is. I’m only casually acquainted with his work, having encountered some of his writings on the “Reason.com” blog, a blog that I used to have on my favorites list and which I still find myself surfing [...]
Some of you may have noticed that my blogging has been very light for the past week or so. Three reasons for that:
The Cosmic Daughter is home from college and we’ve had some family things going on. Work has been just crazy busy lately, and shows no signs of letting up. At least I think I [...]
So, for months, probably for years, my major traffic has been driven by posts I have put up with photos of Angie Dickinson or some other hot babes. More than half of my daily traffic has been due to people visiting the site after seeing those photos on google’s image search.
But as of two days [...]
So, on my home computer yesterday all of those Youtube videos I posted worked just fine, but here at work I’m seeing that they pushed the right side of the blog layout down to the very bottom of the page. Arg! I should have made them all 460 wide instead of 480. I’m not gonna [...]
So I finally decided to compare how many searches are done to find CosmicConservative based on whether they were searches for hot chicks, vs. searches for anything else. The results are pretty discouraging, frankly.
Out of 437 searches performed which led to hits on CosmicConservative yesterday, 88.6% were searches for female photos. 11.4% were searches for [...]
Hmm… I’m getting a lot of traffic on the post about Obama’s upcoming executive order restricting fishing. But no comments…. Still it’s nice for at least one day to go to my stats and not see Angie Dickinson at the top of the hit list for the day..
Sigh… I am going to have to start telegraphing my jokes better. I probably have something I think is clever, some double meaning with a twist, or some obscure literary reference in probably 1/4 of my posts or comments. But it is a rare, rare thing when someone actually seems to get it…
I’m just too [...]
Just posting to make sure I get something posted today. I got nothing. Glad it’s Friday. Probably going to snow again. Not getting enough sleep.
So it just happens that Instapundit had this article linked at the very top of the page when I checked the site today:
It’s advice about how to run a political blog. It has lots of good advice. For me personally there’s a sort of “good news/bad news” result from reading it.
The good news is that [...]
So periodically I undergo an existential re-evaluation of this blog. I’m in the midst of one again.
I enjoy commenting on the world, but it is clear that my thoughts are not original enough, incisive enough, or (most obviously) amusing enough to resonate with the general public, or even any sizeable subset of the general public.
When [...]
So I’ve been sorta idly wondering for a while why Andy’s Place seems to get so much google linkage when my own blog has been around much longer and gets very little google traffic in comparison. I suspected that perhaps Google was favoring it’s own product since Andy’s blog is on Blogspot (also known as [...]
My new computer doesn’t die all the time in the middle of me doing stuff!
I had forgotten what it was like to use a computer that let you finish a blog post without freezing up. My life is a bed of roses now. Life is good. Even Barack Obama is looking better.
Okay, not that last [...]
Here’s what an instalanche looks like. (I had always wondered if CosmicConservative would survive an instalanche, and it looks like it did fine.)
So, looking at my blog stats, I have seen a steady climb with hits who visit CosmicConservative due to searches for “Tinkerbell”. That’s because of this picture from this post:
Of course the current champion for links is “Angie Dickenson” searches due to this photo from this post:
To be honest though, I sort of like this [...]
