A dozen US soldiers are facing trail accused of being part of a 'kill team' that allegedly killed Afghan civilians in an arbitrary fashion – and they even collected their victims' fingers as trophies of war.
Five soldiers have been charged with the killing three Afghan men 'for sport'. And seven more are accused of covering [...]

So to maintain coverage of my kids, my company insurance has, for the first time, requested documents to prove that my kids are, well, my kids. This, they say, is a new requirement from the Obamacare act. So guess what sort of documentation they are requesting…
Yep, birth certificates!!
I think this goes beyond irony and into [...]

According to this study, the more you use Facebook, the more likely you are to be narcissistic and lack self-esteem.
I have, on occasion, been accused of denigrating Facebook activities. I don’t spend much time on FB myself, and I am guilty of describing FB as a viirtual high school lunchroom, but I don’t think I’d [...]

I am currently stuck in traffic on the main highway to my house. It’s a part of the highway that goes through a mountain canyon, so there is no way to get off the road. I’ve seen at least a dozen emergency vehicles squeeze through the traffic. Jam, so I may be here a while.
Ah [...]

So, I don’t drink much. I rarely drink in public. I might have a bourbon and coke (or lately a bourbon and root beer) once a month or so. I usually have a bottle of bourbon last for about four to six months.
In particular I try to avoid drinking at work related activities. This has [...]

It’s been a good year so far for forest fires. I guess that’s over now. A wildfire that started yesterday morning has burned “dozens of structures” just west of Boulder. I’m not aware of much in that area except homes.. I hope everyone got out safely. Someething like 4,000 evacuations were ordered.

For all my disagreements with President George W. Bush, for all my anger over his coddling of his blood-enemies on the left, for all my frustration over his disastrous attempt to blend conservatism with mind-blowing spending programs, for all my concern over his inability to articulate a true conservative message, and finally, for all of [...]

Arizona thought it had a steal when Leinart, who led Southern California to two national championships and a third title game appearance, fell to the Cardinals at the No. 10 overall pick in 2006. He started 11 games as a rookie under then-coach Dennis Green, then the first five the following season under new coach [...]

In 1966, he accepted a starring role in a sci-fi series called “Star Trek,” joining a no-name cast, some of whom later accused him of being pompous, self-aggrandizing, clueless and insufferably William Shatner, which became his greatest role once he finally accepted the fact of it.

After all the garage sale activity I stayed up late getting my paladin to level 80. So now he’s level 80. Now if I intend to raid with him I need to gear him up. That costs gold or means running daily dungeons for a while.
Which probably means, since time is not infinite, that [...]

OK, so we had our big garage sale, made about $70, and now we’ve still got a garage full of old stuff to get rid of. We donated several boxes of clothes to a resource center that provides clothes to needy folks, but I’ve got two TVs, some old furniture, more clothes, and just box [...]

So the inimitable Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit just happened to have a post today about tramp stamps.
Tramp stamps are a favorite subject of mine to ponder. There’s something about the debate between those who have them and think they are “cute”, and those who look at them and snicker about advertising a certain product, that [...]

So while performing some sort of archeological dig in our closet yesterday, the Cosmic Wife uncovered our long-lost high school yearbooks. (Yes, the Cosmic Wife and I attended the same high school, although she was a lowly freshwoman when I was a high and mighty senior. As a result we have six years of consecutive [...]

Yeah, so I’m now leveling up a paladin on the same server my rogue is on. He’s level 77 now. He was level 55 about two weeks ago, so I’ve been power-leveling him pretty good.
The funny thing is that the only reason I started leveling him was to have him mine titanium and saronite for [...]

Hmm… according to my site meter, this post generated roughly 20 times my normal daily traffic when it was posted.
I can’t find any incoming links which would explain it, which implies that the traffic was all organic, from search engines.
Weird.

Palin’s plan to headline the Iowa Republican Party’s annual fall fundraiser on Sept. 17 is solely to help raise money for the state party’s candidates, the former Alaska governor’s aides said.
And one trip to Iowa is a long way from a successful campaign for the state’s 2012 presidential caucuses, still 18 months away, Iowa party [...]
